VOB files are extracted from your DVDs. The resolution of this video format is only 480p but the bitrate and quality of the file is quite high. Due to the excellent video quality, many users collect this kind of formats for watching. But the file size of this format is so large that it will cost them a lot of rooms of their hard disks. So some of them usually make some DVDRIP to achieve a balance between video qualities and file sizes. The most common format for this purpose is RMVB or DVDRIPs based on Xvid or other encodes. These two formats can ensure a smaller file size but the video quality should be sacrificed. Now we have another solution for high video quality and smaller file size. That is X264 encode. It is a new generation of video codecs which is based on H264 encode. Most MKV files adapted this kind of encode. The video quality is excellent while the file size is just as large as those encoded by Xvid codec.

When using this software, users need choose the original VOB files in the main interface first. Then they should select the video encode. Here we can select X264 option. After that users are faced with the bitrate settings. For those who want to get a high video quality, they should set the bitrate high than 2000Kbps. The setting of de-interlacing should be chosen or the converted video should have some lines in it. For other settings, users had better keep them as default.
Next, they need to select the audio settings. As the video settings above, users need to set the audio encode and bitrate. And in the “extra setting” tab, uses are allowed to change the output format such as AVI, MP4, MKV, WMV and so on. The default output format is AVI.
